Theres No Place Like Home...

Hey Everyone!

Our humble abode is slowly but surely coming together and I'm excited to post a few new pictures. We have a few new pieces of furniture taking up residence in our living room, as well as a coat of paint in my bedroom... and I must say the effect is quite homey! Today Ashley purchased our brand new coffee table so that will be next - as much as I love our "storage-bin chic" table that we have now, I cant wait to have a real one :)

Meanwhile, the leaves have also started to change color!! I'm very excited about this and haven't seen fall in about 11 years - I'm enjoying them as much as possible before they are all on the ground lol. These are a few views of our complex and trees off of our porch!

Houseguests and Football Games

Well I am excited to say this weekend ushered in the first visit of Ashley and I's very own houseguest! Kara arrived Thursday evenining after making the 11-12 hr drive from south florida and left this morning to head home. This allowed us a fun but short weekend of catching up and guided tours of Knoxville, and a tiny bit of shopping :)  As we drove through downtown yesterday, we were even able to catch the announcers echoing from the stadium during a Tennessee Volunteers football game ... which in case you don't know, is a huge deal around here. And when there is a home game the city is ORANGE. The McDonald's even serves a Vols orange-flavored shake. And yes, there is even a Tennessee Volunteers snuggie.

Miles around downtown, you will see no one wearing anything but orange, and Kara couldn't resist getting a sweatshirt. :) And she didn't visit us empty handed...as a belated birthday present she got me a game that has quickly become a new addiction.... Mexican Dominoes. If no one has ever played, I highly reccommend it!!    The Mexican Train Game Directions

Its not easy being the "Newby"

I suppose everyone has a day when they start a new job that they begin to wonder if they are really cut out for their position, and today was mine. It is expected from everyone that it will take time to get the hang of things, but today was my first day of work where the stress finally got to me. It wasn't one particular thing that went wrong, but a combination of several honest mistakes ...and perhaps a small side effect of p.m.s.... but it brought me near to tears!

Looking back on it, it's quite silly really, but here's the story: It was my morning to open, and I was supposed to be on my own for the first few hours manning the front desk. Why on earth they thought this would be a good idea for the new girl to be running the show all on her own I'm not sure - but thats normally what Lee does, whom I was covering for. Thankfully, my co-patient manager Tien noticed this and said she would come in to make sure that everything went smoothly even though it was her day off. On top of that, I had several upset patients with questions about billing, and a patient on the phone claiming she never recieved a piece of equipment she was supposed to have recieved.

In the end all issues were resolved of course, but it was perhaps the most stressful day I have had since final exams in college. Good thing is, it can only get better from here! And it made me very thankful for a fun weekend of my friend Kara visiting to look forward to....

Cheers!
